Jessamine Lee
Jas Lee assists the firm in patent prosecution, diligence, clearance studies, and in the preparation of freedom to operate, patentability, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions primarily in the areas of microfluidics, biomedical devices, bioreactors, electrochemical devices, nanotechnology, microfabrication, materials chemistry, organic chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.
- Evaluated complex patent portfolio and developed strategies to best position a startup client in world-wide coordinated effort.
- Assisted in a large clearance study and in writing an opinion directed towards a large medical device company’s acquisition of a patent portfolio.
- Proposed courses of action for pursuing and abandoning cases based on an understanding of a startup client’s business objectives.
- Involved in an analysis of patent portfolios as part of due diligence on prospective acquisitions for a large client and a venture capitalist.
- Organized and helped university and startup clients prioritize invention disclosures.
- Prepared yearly IP budget for a startup client.
Prior to joining the firm, Jas worked as a consultant for two life science start-ups where she was responsible for designing scientific proof of concept experiments, and for the development and implementation of safety programs.
Jas performed her doctoral work under the supervision of Professor George Whitesides at Harvard University. Her doctoral thesis focused on the design, fabrication, and testing of integrated microfluidic systems for chemical and biochemical assays using soft-lithography. She also studied the compatibility of mammalian cells on polymer surfaces.
Jas has co-authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
