Karen Martin assists the firm in patent prosecution primarily in the areas of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, organic and biological materials, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals and drug delivery, sensors, electrochemical devices, and imaging technologies.

Her scientific background includes organic synthesis, materials science, liquid crystals, and chiral supramolecular materials.

• Repositioned claims to properly capture and project subject matter critical to business goals for client's complex IP portfolio.
• Assisted in analysis of third party patents in clearance study for client’s technology.
• Prioritized large IP portfolio based on client's products, worldwide market, and business goals.

Karen’s doctoral work focused on the design and synthesis of liquid crystals and polymers for potential applications in chiral separation technology and asymmetric catalysis. She also developed a method for the in situ polymerization of liquid crystal phases using acyclic diene metathesis polymerization.
