Michael T. Siekman
Michael Siekman counsels clients of all sizes in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries on a range of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution and portfolio strategy, interferences, due diligence, licensing, invalidity and noninfringement opinions, enforcement options, and litigation.
- Prosecuted patent applications in areas such as gene therapy, protein expression, antibodies, and recombinant vaccines, as well as numerous traditional pharmaceutical technologies.
- Served as lead or backup counsel in numerous patent interferences in the biotech, pharmaceutical, electrical, and consumer product fields.
- Maximized market exclusivity for clients via interaction of patent law and food and drug law under Hatch-Waxman Act.
- Coordinated worldwide prosecution of patent applications, including European opposition proceedings.
- Obtained Patent Term Extensions and advised clients on Orange Book patent listing strategies for New Drug Applications.
- Participated in several Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) patent litigations.
Before entering law school, Michael worked as a patent agent for a large IP law firm. While attending law school, he co-founded and served as Articles Editor for the Boston University Journal of Science & Technology.
