  • Assisted in creation of strategies for development and implementation of global patent portfolio for client interested in production of therapeutic glycoproteins in plants.

Previous Experience

Ulrich was a biochemist/molecular biologist with 10 years experience in academia, covering a wide range of topics and techniques. As a post-doctoral fellow at the MGH Cancer Center, Harvard Medical School, he examined the biological consequences of biophysical interactions of the Retinoblastoma protein, pRB and discovered an unexpected interaction of pRB with the Anaphase-promoting complex (APC/C). This novel finding was published in the journal Nature Cell Biology.

As a doctoral candidate at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Imperial College, London, Ulrich studied the viral life cycle of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), the causative agent of several cancers. His efforts to elucidate the mechanisms of viral reactivation has led to several publications in scientific journals.

Honors and Awards

Ulrich has been granted both the National Institutes of Health Training Grant and the Fund for Medical Discovery Post-doctoral Fellowship Award for his molecular oncology work at the MGH Cancer Center. He has also received a competitive travel award for young scientists from the International Association for Research on Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) and Associated Diseases for his EBV work at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
