Wolf Greenfield “Good Deeds Month” Brings Volunteers and Donations to Boston Community

  • July 17, 2015
Wolf Greenfield recently concluded a month-long campaign of fundraising and volunteerism, focused on supporting non-profits and community groups serving the Boston area. Dubbed “Good Deeds Month,” the philanthropic initiative illustrates Wolf Greenfield’s commitment to fostering charitable giving and community engagement.

During Good Deeds Month, Wolf Greenfield raised more money than any other law firm in Boston for the annual Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) Associates Fund Drive: just over $50,000, about enough to employ a full-time lawyer at GBLS for a year. Led by associates Chelsea Loughran—who was recently elected to the GBLS Board of Directors—and Eric Rutt, every single associate, counsel and technology specialist at the firm contributed, with the firm’s shareholder group providing matching funds. For the third year in a row, Wolf Greenfield took home the award for greatest amount raised across the entire drive. The drive benefits the GBLS Family Law Unit, which provides free legal services to help families overcome difficult circumstances, to move on with their lives and to become self-sufficient.

In addition, throughout the month of June, about 75 Wolf Greenfield attorneys and staff volunteered their time at the homebuilding organization Habitat for Humanity and Cradles to Crayons, an organization that provides children in need with essential items to help them thrive. Fifty of the firm’s employees also participated in the Lawyers Have Heart 5k run on June 30, an event that benefits the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

“Good Deeds Month has been a powerful way for Wolf Greenfield to harness the spirit of charitable giving at our firm and translate it into hands-on action,” says Mike Rader, chair of the firm’s Charitable Committee. “We are particularly proud of the 100% participation of our associates, counsel and technology specialists in the GBLS Associates Fund Drive, and the overwhelming support that all of our attorneys showed. By providing pro bono legal representation, GBLS is doing essential work to ensure that everyone in the Boston area has access to justice.”
