Benefits Administrator

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (including but not limited to: health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance, retirement plan, pre-tax spending plans including health, dependent care, transit, pet insurance, and COBRA). The Benefits Administrator provides excellent customer service, researches new benefits programs, makes recommendations to improve existing programs, and administers the benefit programs. This position requires strong analytical skills and an acute attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer all benefit enrollments, terminations, changes in coverage, and beneficiaries. 
  • Serve as primary benefits contact for employee inquires and the main point of contact for benefit carriers.
  • Conduct new employee benefit orientations and provide other educational opportunities throughout the year.
  • Manage a variety of established benefit related programs and processes, such as open enrollment an annual health fair, flu shot clinics, etc.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files and maintain benefit data in HRIS system.
  • Create and update professional collateral, communications, and branding for programs.  Produce a monthly benefit newsletter. Maintain benefit information in HRIS and on firm intranet site.
  • Work closely with the benefits broker to research, design and coordinate new benefits, programs, and educational opportunities.  Examine possible plan designs and benefits cost changes.
  • Work with HR Coordinator to audit monthly benefit invoices and ensure timely submission to Finance for payment processing. 
  • Evaluate and update internal benefit process documentation. 
  • Stay informed of and communicate any legal or regulatory changes that may impact benefits programs.
  • Create internal benefit surveys and participate in external benefit market research surveys.
  • Assist with ACA reporting.
  • Work closely with Payroll Manager to ensure accuracy of benefit deductions in each payroll cycle.  Acts back up for processing payroll. 
  • Provide high touch and responsive customer support to all employees ensuring a positive experience. 
  • Provide support to other areas of Human Resources and assist with ongoing projects as needed. 
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree along with 3-5 years of professional work experience in benefits administration in a professional service setting.
  • Strong benefits administration and compliance experience. Payroll support experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Excel with solid analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and organizational skills.  Demonstrated ability to prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an integral member of the team.
  • High degree of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidential information.
