We are actively recruiting for the following position(s):

  • Biotechnology Associate, New York or Boston based. We are seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join our Biotechnology group. Qualified applicants will have 2 - 4 years of experience, an advanced degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field of study, be a member of the patent bar, and have patent drafting and prosecution experience. Candidates must also have strong academic credentials, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Chemical and Materials Technologies Associate, New York based. We are seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join our Chemical and Materials Technology group.  Qualified applicants will have an advanced degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study, be a member of the patent bar, and have patent drafting and prosecution experience.  Candidates must also have strong academic credentials, outstanding written and verbal skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Electrical and Computer Technologies Associate, New York or Boston based. We are seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join our Electrical and Computer Technologies group.  Qualified applicants will have 3-5 years of experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field of study (advanced degree preferred but not required), be a member of the patent bar and have patent drafting and prosecution experience.  Candidates must also have strong academic credentials, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Litigation Associate, Boston based. We are seeking an associate to join our Litigation group. Qualified applicants will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 3-5 years of IP litigation experience. Candidates must also have strong academic credentials, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Mechanical Associate, New York or Boston based. We are seeking a patent prosecution attorney to join our Mechanical Technologies group. Qualified applicants will have 3-5 years of experience, an advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study, be a member of the patent bar, and have patent drafting and prosecution experience. Candidates must also have strong academic credentials, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Post‐Grant Associate, New York or Boston based. Our Post-Grant group is looking for an attorney to join its growing and nationally recognized practice.  Interested candidates will have 2-5 years of post-law school experience, preferably with an Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree.  Prior experience with post‐grant contested matters before the USPTO such as inter partes review proceedings is preferred, but not required.  Applicants must be admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • Trademark Associate, New York or Boston based. We are seeking an associate to join our Trademark and Copyright group. Qualified applicants will have 3-5 years of experience in trademark matters, including domestic and international clearance, prosecution, and enforcement, as well as experience in managing a global trademark portfolio. The position will also involve drafting motions and other pleadings for the TTAB and Federal Court. Previous experience preparing and responding to cease and desist letters and handling other enforcement matters is preferred. Excellent writing skills, strong academic credentials, business acumen, and strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. An interest in public presentation, writing articles, and active marketing and business development are also required.
  • Biotechnology Trainer (Counsel), New York or Boston basedThis Counsel-level position is focused on legal training for attorneys and technology specialists, with no billable hour requirement.  As a member of the Biotechnology Practice Group working closely with the Practice Group Leader (PGL), other Shareholders, and members of the Legal Recruiting and Professional Development (LRPD) team, the Biotech Trainer will support the firm’s onboarding and integration of entry-level professionals by providing substantive legal training to attorneys and technology specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works closely with shareholders and other supervising attorneys to identify needs and provide substantive legal training for attorneys and technology specialists, primarily focused on one-on-one training sessions for more junior practitioners. Depending on the successful candidate’s skillset, this position may also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with practitioners in practice groups other than Biotech.
  • Contributes to practice group and firm-wide training initiatives for all levels.
  • Curates materials for firm-wide and Biotech group training portal to ensure information is current, easy to understand, and accessible.
  • Monitors and informs the group of important legal developments relevant to the practice, supporting the writing and publication of external alerts on such developments.
  • Collaborates with members of the Training Committee and LRPD team on special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor required; advanced degree in the life sciences preferred.
  • 5 years legal experience in patent prosecution and counseling, either in a law firm or in-house legal department.Some law firm experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to adapt
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to leverage technology and comply with firm policy and best practices.
