Wolf Greenfield Hosts GBLS Associates Fund Drive Kick-Off

On April 7, Wolf Greenfield hosted 75 associates from area law firms to kick off the annual Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) Associates Fund Drive. Each year, associates at over 50 firms participate in the drive, which raises hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to support GBLS's work on behalf of domestic violence survivors.

For the past three years, Wolf Greenfield has raised more for the drive than any other law firm. In 2015, the firm raised just over $50,000, about enough to employ a full-time lawyer at GBLS for a year. Led by associates Chelsea Loughran—who was recently elected to the GBLS Board of Directors—and Eric Rutt, every single associate, counsel and technology specialist at the firm contributed, with the firm’s shareholder group providing matching funds.

At this year’s kick-off event, shareholder Mike Rader welcomed the associates to Wolf Greenfield with a reminder that though the law is complex, there are some things that are simple: “The proposition that every person who needs a lawyer should have a lawyer is not complex,” he said. “The idea that no one should ever, ever have to walk into a courtroom alone—that is about as simple as could be.”

Wolf Greenfield’s co-captains for this year’s drive are Chelsea Loughran, Eric Rutt and Sardiaa Leney. The drive will run through June 3. For more information, visit the GBLS website.
