Maryanne Trevisan, Elisabeth Hunt and Tommy Franklin Named Co-Chairs
We are pleased to announce that Maryanne Trevisan has been named co-chair of Wolf Greenfield's Biotechnology Practice, Elisabeth Hunt has been named co-chair of the firm's Post-Grant Proceedings Practice, and Tommy Franklin has been named co-chair of the firm’s Electrical & Computer Technologies Practice.
Trevisan, also a shareholder in the Boston office, will join Helen Lockhart to lead Wolf Greenfield’s Biotechnology Practice, which covers a breadth of expertise from antibodies to transgenic technologies. Repeatedly named in The Best Lawyers in America©, as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer, and as a “Life Science Star” by LMG Life Sciences, Trevisan works with clients in prosecution and contested matters in a variety of technologies, with a particular focus on regenerative medicine, medical imaging modalities, cancer therapeutics, and nucleic acid sequencing. She also provides strategic legal counseling to her clients including patentability and freedom to operate analyses. Maryanne has also been involved in several interferences and oppositions.
Hunt, a shareholder in the Boston office, joins co-chair Rich Giunta (Managing IP’s 2021 PTAB Practitioner of the Year) in leading the firm’s Post-Grant Proceedings Practice, which was recently highlighted by The Legal 500 United States as a “standout” due to its “very successful IPR track record for both petitioners and patent owners.” The firm was ranked nationally for PTAB Litigation by Managing IP in 2021and was ranked in the top five among all US law firms for best overall performance over a five year period in Patexia, Inc.’s 2020 IPR Intelligence Report.
Hunt was recently named a Rising Star by Managing IP and named to the inaugural Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list by Best Lawyers in America. She has represented petitioners and patent owners in 50 proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), where she brings her unique combination of technical expertise and legal acumen to bear as lead counsel in PTAB trials for sophisticated technology companies. She earned her BS in electrical engineering from Princeton University, MS and PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and JD from Suffolk University Law School, graduating first in her class.
Franklin is a shareholder in the firm’s Boston office, and he joins Randy Pritzker in co-chairing the Electrical & Computer Technologies Practice, where he provides clients with a wide range of IP services including strategic patent portfolio development, opinion-related work, licensing, and litigation-related counseling. Franklin leverages his broad technical background in areas such as medical devices, electromagnetic sensors, optics, microelectromechanical systems, semiconductors and fluidic systems. He earned a BA in physics from Bucknell University, an MS in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a JD from Boston College Law School.
