Andrea Merin focuses her practice on utility and design patent preparation and prosecution as well as opinion work. She counsels budding startups, multinational corporations and leading academic institutions to develop and implement intellectual property strategies aligned with their business goals.
Andrea’s clients span a wide range of technological fields, including consumer products, medical devices, sporting goods, injection molding equipment, manufacturing equipment, automotive technologies and furniture. She is experienced in US and foreign patent prosecution, freedom to-operate, landscape and patentability studies, patent validity and infringement opinions, and IP due diligence.
Prior to joining Wolf Greenfield, Andrea was awarded a New England Law | Boston Judicial Fellowship and served as a Law Fellow to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court. In this role, Andrea assisted Justices in all phases of criminal and civil litigation, prepared draft decisions and legal memoranda, proposed jury instructions, and worked extensively with Justices on trials, hearings and motion sessions.
Andrea’s graduate work was in the area of materials science, with a focus on using silk fibroin for targeted drug delivery.
