Ed Russavage is a highly skilled patent counselor with over 20 years of experience advising clients on intellectual property matters including patent protection, licensing, freedom to operate and invalidity studies, licensing and transactions, litigation support and post-grant proceedings. Ed serves as a trusted advisor to businesses ranging from startups to mid-sized companies to multinational corporations, handling strategic portfolio development and delivering cost-effective IP strategies that align with client’s business objectives.
A former engineer, Ed has substantial knowledge in the software development and network communications space. In particular, Ed has vast work and legal experience in network technologies, protocols (e.g. LTE, 3G/4G), and their associated standards. He also has significant experience representing clients in technology areas related to financial computer systems and related data sciences (FinTech), advertising and related data sciences (AdTech), bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, wearable technologies, medical devices, video, additive fabrication (3D printing), internet-based technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) and electrical technology areas.
Ed greatly enjoys working with start-ups and assisting them with their IP strategy as they navigate the road from funding all the way to acquisition. He regularly presents to start-up, software industry, and investor groups on patents, software patent eligibility and open source issues.
Ed is based in Boston, but also supports clients from the firm's New York office. Before joining Wolf Greenfield, he was as a partner at Lando & Anastasi and previously served as a managing partner there.
